
Indore is a city in west-central India. It’s known for the 7-story Rajwada Palace and the Lal Baag Palace, which date back to Indore’s 19th-century Holkar dynasty. The Holkar rulers are honored by a cluster of tombs and cenotaphs at Chhatri Baag. The night market Sarafa Bazar sells street food. East is the Indo-Gothic Gandhi Hall and clock tower. The Jain temple Kanch Mandir has a mirrored mosaic interior.
Indore has been selected as one of the 100 Indian cities to be developed as a smart city under the Smart Cities Mission. It also qualified the first round of Smart Cities Mission and was selected as one of the first twenty cities to be developed as Smart Cities. Indore has been part of Swachh Survekshan since its inception and had ranked 25th in 2016. It has been ranked as India's cleanest city five years in a row as per the Swachh Survekshan for the years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Meanwhile, Indore has also been declared as India's first 'water plus' city under the Swachh Survekshan 2021. Indore became the only Indian city to be selected for International Clean Air Catalyst Programme. The project with cooperation of Indore Municipal Corporation and Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board, will be operated for a period of five years to purify the air in the city.

PLACES OF INTEREST IN INDORE

This temple was built in 1735 by queen Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of the Holkar dynasty, who retrieved the idol of god Ganesha from a well where it had been hidden, to keep it safe from the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The devotees circle around the temple and tie a thread to pray to Lord Ganesha for the successful completion of their work. It is said that the ancient idol in the temple was seen in a dream of a local priest, Pandit Mangal Bhatt. The temple is still managed by the Bhatt family.
From a small hut to a huge structure, the temple has developed a lot over the years. The temple is equally famous in India abroad. The temple regularly receives money, gold, diamonds and other precious jewels in the form of donations. The gate, the outer and upper walls of the Garbhagriha are made of Silver and different moods and festivals are depicted on it. The eyes of the deity are made of diamonds which were donated by a businessman of Indore.

RALAMANDAL WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
The Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1989 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It is spread over five square kilometres and is home to different species of birds and other wildlife. It has an ancient palace built by Holkars which was primarily used as a hunting hut also known as shikargah (hunting lodge).
the place served as a hunting ground for the royal family members of Holkars as it had a huge population of tigers, leopards and deers. In order to protect animals and birds from noise and air pollution emanating from nearby highway, a green wall of about 10,000 trees was created. It is 180 metres long and 6 metres wide.

GANDHI HALL
The Gandhi Hall was originally known as King Edward Hall, but H. H. Yeshwant Rao Holkar II (reign: 1926 - 1948) renamed it in 1948, after the death of Mahatma Gandhi ! This town hall was designed & constructed by architect Mr. Charles Frederick Stevens from Mumbai at a cost of Rs. 2,50,000 and was inaugurated by Prince of Wales, George V in 1905 ! It was made in the Indo-Gothic style, made of White stones from Seoni & Red stones from Patan in M. P., has magnificent domes and minarets, and a huge clock-tower
This town hall, known as Gandhi Hall, is a major venue for art and cultural exhibitions, with a central hall of capacity to accommodate 2,000 people and grounds for even bigger events ! The State Government lights up this building in tri-colour on all three national festivals !


LALBAGH PALACE
Lalbagh Palace is a residence of the Holkar Maharaja of Indore State in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Construction began in the late 19th century and was completed in 1926. It was built in the Italian Renaissance Revival architecture style.
The construction of Lal Bagh Palace, or the Red Palace, began in the late nineteenth century and was completed in 1926 by the Holkar dynasty, one of the most powerful Maratha rulers of India. The architecture reflects Italian Renaissance Revival style, making it one of India’s finest neo-classical buildings. It is renowned for its European influenced interiors, among the finest surviving of this period in India.
Omkareshwar Temple
The Jyotirlinga of Omkareshwar is located in Madhya Pradesh along the banks of the Narmada River. The eminent ‘Shikhara of Omkareshwar’ stands tall and proud in the sky as if overlooking the entire earth. The temple is mentioned in sacred Hindu texts like the Vedas and Puranas. The island of Omkareshwar has a total of 6 pilgrimages and 33 deities making it a must-visit place for spiritual seekers.
A symbolic manifestation of “Om” formed by the curves of Narmada makes the sacred site even more ethereal. Omkareshwar is an epitome of the years-old Hindu traditions and timeless religious influence of Shiva on his devotees. This temple is the only place where Lord Shiva appeared in an Omkara Swaroopa.
The religious importance of Omkareshwar finds mention in the Skanda Purana, the Shiv Purana, and the Vayu Purana. It is believed that whoever worships Omkareshwar with an unshakeable faith in Mahadev will attain respite from all the evils present on earth.


Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple
Shri Mahakaleshwar of Ujjayini is known among the twelve celebrated Jyotirlingas in India. The glory of Mahakaleshwar temple has been vividly described in various Purans. Starting with Kalidasa, many sanskrit poets have eulogized this temple in emotive terms. Ujjain used to be the central point for calculation of Indian time and Mahakala was considered as the distinctive presiding deity of Ujjain.The presiding deity of time, Shiva, in all his splendor, reigns eternal in Ujjain. The temple of Mahakaleshwar, its shikhara soaring into the skies, an imposing façade against the skyline, evokes primordial awe and reverence with its majesty.
The Mahakal dominates the life of the city and its people, even in the midst of the busy routine of modern preoccupations, and provides an unbreakable link with past traditions. One of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India, the lingam at the Mahakal is believed to be swayambhu (born of itself), deriving currents of power (Shakti) from within itself as against the other images and lingams which are ritually established and invested with mantra-shakti.
